I'll Remember...1984/1995

Madonna's version of 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' was included in her second studio album 'Like a Virgin', and it was the idea of Michael Ostin, the head of the A&R department of Warner Bros. Records, that Madonna record a cover version of the song to include in the album. It was further included in her 1995 ballad compilation album 'Something to Remember', in a remixed form.
The original and the remixed version of the Madonna song differs in the usage of more classical instruments in the latter, with Madonna's voice sounding fuller due to her vocal training during the shooting of Evita. The 1995 version also received a number of club remix treatments. Critics were not impressed with the version present in 'Like a Virgin', calling it "awful", while they warmed to the version present in 'Something to Remember'. However, it was a commercial disappointment, reaching a peak of only 78 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was promoted by a music video shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, which portrayed Madonna in an empty suite of an abandoned hotel, and was shot in a single frame.

Take a listen to these HAWT remixes...on FIAH!

What do you think of the MDNA cover?

Madonna’s ‘MDNA’ Album Cover: How Does It Compare To Her Past LPs?

Madonna has always been one of pop’s most colorful figures, which is something that’s quite evident with the cover art for MDNA, her upcoming 12th studio LP (out March 26). Here the prolific Material Girl is shown through the prism of what looks like a multi-hued gem. With her blonde locks pulled back and head slightly tilted to the side, there’s almost a hint of the cover of Madge’s classic 1986 LP True Blue.

In looking back on Madonna’s album covers since the turn of the millennium, the singer has worn quite a few coats — something we’ve come to expect.

With 2000’s Music, a denim-and-cowboy-hat-clad M posed in front of a vintage car. Here she was Americana incarnate, a persona she’d turn on its head with politically-tinged 2003 release American Life. Madge got a spanking by US radio (she was virtually banned on the airwaves) for her so-called anti-American sentiments on the album, so Confessions On A Dancefloor found her heading straight to the disco in 2005 — a return to her roots, if you will. Appropriately, the cover art had Her Madgesty on her knees, bathing in the strobes and glitterball shimmer.

And then there was 2008’s Hard Candy, the cover of which depicted the sticky and sweet singer looking, let’s face it, rather hard herself in her leather boxing dominatrix gear amidst some questionable Photoshop work.

MDNA seems to symbolize exactly how we’ve collectively viewed pop’s reigning queen since she came roaring into our consciousness nearly 30 years ago — from many angles. We’ve dissected her to death and probably projected our own persona onto her at times.

Yes, she may have bounced and writhed through different shades of the color spectrum over the decades. But in the end, one thing remains crystal clear: she always is and always will be uniquely Madonna.

Madonna Explains Cutting Lourdes' 'W.E.' Cameo

Madonna
'I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute,' Madge explains to MTV News of her daughter's short-lived role.

Madonna worked with a number of skilled thespians on "W.E.," but when it came to one smaller role in the film, which opens Friday, the pop star/director knew of one up-and-comer she felt would be perfect for the role: her daughter, Lourdes.

"There was a scene where she played Wally as a young girl," she told MTV News about her daughter's role as the teen version of Abbie Cornish's character, a modern-day American obsessed with the romance between American divorcée Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII. "And I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute. It was quite unfair of me what I did and what I asked her to do."

Cornish teased Lourdes' appearance to us back in March 2011, but, as it sometimes happens in Hollywood, Lourdes' bit part will remain unseen. "But she was really great and then I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know," Madge teased. "I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor.' She took it like a champ."

Making the choice to not include Lourdes was one of the many decisions the Queen of Pop had to make while shooting the film. But, hard decisions come easy to Madonna and the experience of shooting this film has only heightened her desire to direct more in the future.

"Yes, watch out Visconti!" she laughed. "No, I'm not a blockbuster kind of a girl, I don't think. But I do love the idea of making a sweeping epic romance. And now that I know how to make a film in three different countries, with several different time periods and lots of different accents; I think I'm qualified."

Warner Music To Release Box Set Of Eleven Madge Albums!

As Madonna says goodbye to Warner Music, the record company still plans on getting paid.

Warner Music still controls Madge's back catalog of music, and it plans to release an 11 album box set of her albums.

11 Madonna albums in one box?! Yes, please!

The albums will be released in clamshell pack and set to hit European shelves March 5th.

Can You Spot the Difference?

Hummm....did they use an old photo for the cover?
Doubt it, but still you need to do a double take, no?

If anticipation for Madonna‘s new album, ‘MDNA’, wasn’t at fever-pitch already, the Material Girl cranks it up a notch with the unveiling of the set’s official cover.

Loud and bodacious, the colourful cover is everything it needed to be.  It’s definetely a massive improvement from the atrocity that was her 'Hard Candy' album artwork and I can definetely work with its futuristic elements and multiple flavours of fierce!

‘MDNA’ arrives in stores globally on March 26th.

Now peep a portion of Sunday’s night set list below…

"Make sure you lip-synch good"

The claws are out again as Elton John offers adversary Madonna some 'advice' for Super Bowl gig

Sir Elton John has reopened his feud with Madonna by suggesting she will not be singing live during the half time show at America's biggest sporting event.

After his recent spat with the Queen on Pop at a film awards ceremony, the 64-year-old star was asked what advice he had for the her when she appears during the half time show at this Sunday’s Super Bowl.  'Make sure you lip-synch good' he said mischievously.  The comment to Madonna, a singer who prides herself on performing  live, is likely to drive a even bigger wedge between two of the music industry's most successful stars.  Being chosen to sing at the Super Bowl, which attracts a worldwide audience of over one billion, is considered a highlight of any artists  career.

Madonna Is Taking Over 2012

Madonna has a very busy year ahead of her.  Aside from the premiere of her new film W.E., Madonna is also working on her clothing label Material Girl, her first fragrance, a new record, a tour, and she’s performing this Sunday at the Super Bowl.  And despite working so much, even those in her business circles are excited to be near her.

Dari Marder, the Chief Marketing Officer of Iconix Brand Group who developed Madge’s clothing line, reveals:
"At a photo shoot, say, I have to be professional and process what she's saying, but I can't help but think, 'Madonna's whispering in my ear, ohmygodohmygodohmygod.”
As for Madonna’s work ethic and various ventures, Marder adds:
"She's able to keep her finger on the pulse because she's very collaborative, working with people in different fields who impart a freshness to her work. I think that says a lot about her as a person."
Which of Madonna's business ventures are you most excited for this year?

Madonna Reinvents Herself as a Megabrand

There's nothing quite like the experience of Madonna whispering in your ear. So says Dari Marder, a Glen Cove resident and chief marketing officer of Iconix Brand Group. Marder is no stranger to celebrity -- she's worked with stars, from Britney Spears to Beyoncé to Sharon Stone. But in recent years, when Iconix developed the Material Girl line with Madonna and her daughter Lola, Marder found it took some effort to suppress a certain . . . giddiness.

"At a photo shoot, say, I have to be professional and process what she's saying, but I can't help but think, 'Madonna's whispering in my ear, ohmygodohmygodohmygod,' " Marder says.
Inevitably, Marder adds, Madonna's comments -- about the lighting, perhaps, or a model's body position -- are right on target. "It's often something nobody noticed, and makes all the difference," she says. "It's like she sees things through a different filter."

That Madonna has business savvy is hardly news, but what may surprise some is the fact that her marketing potential, as an international brand, seems stronger than ever. And her appearance in this Sunday's Super Bowl half-time show is just the start of a very big year.
Madonna's other ventures include a new film ("W./E.," about the love affair of Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII, which she directed and expands into theaters across the country this month), a new record (dropping later this year) and tour, plus her first fragrance (Truth or Dare by Madonna, created by Coty, to be sold exclusively at Macy's starting in April).

F*ck YOU?

Certainly looks like she is saying "f*ck" and "you" - and with the amount of ageist bullsh!t that she has to put up with, i'm not surprised she's saying "f*ck you!"

I'm sick of hearing all these "Madonna is old" comments. Well DUH, yeah she's "old" - but has she ever done anything but be truthful about her age?? Life doesn't stop once you get past 30.

So what if she's 53?? She looks great. She's still got. And this comeback is gonna be MASSIVE. Superbowl, new single, new album, new tour. 2012 is Madonna's year.

Madonna Unveils ‘MDNA’ Release Date

Easily one of the year’s most anticipated releases, Madonna‘s new album ‘MDNA’ finally has an arrival date.  The ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” led set is to receive a global release date of…March 26th 2012.  Fans keen to pre-order the LP on iTunes will be rewarded with a special deluxe 18 track version of the record, the singer’s first in over 4 years.

‘MDNA’ serves as the the follow-up to 2008′s ‘Hard Candy’, which topped charts in 37 countries. Will her collection fare as well? Only time will tell.  What is certain, though, is that – like most things Madonna related – the launch of ‘MDNA’ is shaping up to be quite the “event”.

The Big Breakfast TV Interview
With Johnny Vaughan

Madonna Gets Cosy With Nicki Minaj Hype Man

Get into this snap of Pop icon Madonna striking a pose with Nicki Minaj‘s hype man, Safaree Samuels.

Reportedly shot during the recording of the star’s ‘Gimme All Your Luvin’, which features Minaj, the pic arrives weeks before the ladies take to the Superbowl 2012 stage to perform the cut.

It also comes months before the release of ‘Pink Friday:Roman Reloaded’, Minaj’s upcoming album.

Quote of the Day

In a recent interview with NY 1, Madge discussed what she has in store for the performance, and used the opportunity to throw some shade at Janet Jackson‘s way.

Referring to Ms Jackson’s 2004 wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl, she remarks:

“I have not mainstreamed and I’m not planning anything naughty. I’m planning something super entertaining. Yep, yep! You don’t have to show nipples to be interesting. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re cutting edge if you do, right?”

...says the woman who previously simulated masturbation onstage for entertainment.

Madonna Talks New Album! Says She Made 'Magic' With Producer William Orbit!

We are SOOOOO ready for the MADGic! LOLz!
During a recent interview, Madonna opened up about her upcoming album M.D.N.A., and she had the following to say about working on it with producer William Orbit:
"With William, I didn't really have a discussion. We've worked on stuff for so many years that we kind of finish each other's sentences. He knows my taste and what I like."
"Magic happens when we get into a recording studio together."
We can't wait! And hey, maybe after this album, Madonna can team up with Steven Soderbergh for a new movie! They can call it Magic Madge! Ha!
What do U think? Will Madonna's next album be magical???

Madonna Reaches Out to Demi Moore After Hospitalization

Madonna wants Demi Moore to know she's there for her.  A source tells me that Madge contacted Moore shortly after hearing the news of her hospitalization...

I'm told that the singer called Moore, and the conversation apparently wasn't very long. "Madonna told Demi she was there if she needs anything," my source said.

Although Madonna and Moore aren't usually in regular contact, "they're pretty tight," the source said.

The two most recently hung out at CAA's pre-Golden Globes party at Soho House, where they spent most of the night chatting with each other. Ashton Kutcher also attended the bash, but the closest he came to Moore was talking to her daughter Rumer Willis.

I'm also told that before this week's ordeal, Moore was thinking about going to the Super Bowl to see Madonna's halftime show, but wasn't sure because she assumed Kutcher would also be there. Moore and Kutcher attended last year's game in Dallas, as well as some of the festivities throughout the weekend.

No word yet on the status of the annual post-Oscar party Moore co-hosts with Madonna and her manager, Guy Oseary.

Sh*t Madonna Says

We had no idea Madonna was so in love with her iPhone! LOL!
The craze has yet to die down, so we have yet another Sh*t Says… video for your enjoyment! This one is brought to you by the very funny, very talented and very chic Charlie Hides, putting his all into his impression of The Queen of Pop!
Also, he brought out his best wig for the occasion. We appreciate that.
Ch-ch-check out the video (above) for a chuckle or two at Madge's expense. (All in good fun, of course!)

LMFAO & FOO Fighters To Join Madonna For Superbowl Performance?

Who will be Madonna's guest performers on stage at the Super Bowl 2012 halftime show? So far a lot of speculation has been from the Foo Fighters to M.I.A.. The latest buzz is it could be Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., or L.M.F.A.O. The only hint that the Material Girl singer is giving is that "pom poms" will join her.

The news was broken by Will.i.am during a radio interview earlier today in which he said that the 'Party Rock Anthem' duo, whom he is currently managing, will be at the Superbowl to play with The Material Girl herself.
"I'm going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna." he told Capital FM.

Adding: Check that out, will.i.am Music Group is pretty freaking two for two. One year the Super Bowl the next year another group part of the Super Bowl in collaboration with Madonna. That's still happening."

Madonna said this when asked about which singers will entertain at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis: "I am not saying 'Yes,' and I am not saying 'No.'" Her mysterious answer was, "Pom poms. That's all I can tell you."

A number of musicians are believed to take the stage. Not much else has been rumored about the Foo Fighters, but the entertainment will remain fairly tight-lipped about who will give a great show at the Super Bowl.

Madonna admits she is nervous to the pressure to put on a perfect show, especially the stage preparation and removal. Her people have eight minutes to put it up for a 12-minute halftime show before having to remove everything in seven minutes. That is a tight deadline, to say the least. If anyone can handle such a major undertaking on a grand scale, it is Madonna.

Madonna COVERED...

Like a Flower
Written by Madonna and Rick Nowels, the song was recorded by Italian singer Laura Pausini for her 2004 album Resta In Ascolto. The song is based on an unreleased demo "Like a Flower" recorded during the Ray of Light sessions.
