It’s here!

Madonna and her man-friends unleash their sexy in the video for ‘Girl Gone Wild’, the latest release to be lifted from the singer’s hotly anticipated ‘MDNA’ LP.  One of her looks is inspired by the movie 'Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!'.

She looks so hot!  So, what are you waiting for?  Check out the clip below!
Fierce!  This b*tch is in her fifties and remains an epic bad@ss.  Ol’ Maggie served sex, sass, routine, and all between, resulting in a killer clip.  That said, there’s a distinct flavour of Lady GaGa‘s ‘Alejandro’ visual here. Surely it’s not just I who spot this?  But was Gaga was influenced by the Queen for that video anyway...humm...uhm yeah Gaga was supposed to paying homage to MADONNA in 'Alejandro' (especially the “Vogue” & "Express Yourself" videos) in that video?!?!
In any case, more than any other instance, this is where (despite of all her shade and insecurity)  we stand and applaud this 53 year old who is showing theRihanna’s, Britney’s and co how it’s done.

Snippit - ‘I Don’t Give A (Feat. Nicki Minaj)’

Take a listen to the Nicki Minaj-assisted ‘I Don’t Give A’, which is lifted from Madonna‘s upcoming 12th studio album MDNA.
As if ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ wasn’t bad enough, Madonna and Nicki Minaj have teamed up yet again to beat the dead horse that is: juvenile dance-pop music.

Listen to the duo’s second collaboration lifted from Madge’s upcoming album ‘MDNA’ after the jump and sound-off below.  Madonna’s lame attempts at rapping are worse than watching someone’s middle-aged mother try to dip it low and pick it up slow at the local block party. It’s embarrassing for everyone involved and totally unnecessary.  The nonsensical nature of the lyrics and half hearted vocal given by the alleged ‘Queen of Pop’ contrast against ‘I Don’t Give A”s stellar production jarringly so. It’s obviously the song’s focal point was production and autotune…how dare we assume vocals and intriguing lyrics would be the draw.

Queen or not, she’s still not owning it. Despite the effort and everything else, the song still falls flat and more. ‘M.D.N.A.’ is set to drop in stores on March 26th. The feisty break-up anthem is not as dancey as some of the stuff on ‘M.D.N.A’. Backed by some hip-hop drums, Minaj tries to add some dancehall flavour with her flow, while Madonna spits venom at her failed marriage to former film-maker Guy Richie. It ends with some orchestral chants and Minaj finishing her line with: “there’s only one Queen and that’s Madonna, bitch”.

Madonna was right by naming her album ‘MDNA’ as a [incorrect] play on the mind altering street drug of the same name. One would have to be bogged out of their mind to deem these tracks quality pop music worthy of a woman well into her fourth decade of global pop dominance. The reductive album is set to be released on March 23, 2012 by Interscope Records. Senior discounts unavailable.

MDNA Rolling Stone review

Oh Canada!

Madonna's Free Pass for Quebec Concert Site Draws Controversy
Officials for Quebec City's historic Plains of Abraham has relaxed its rule about for-profit concerts on the park grounds and made an exception for Madonna.

Live Nation Entertainment will present her concert September 1, and according to the Globe and Mail, the National Battlefields Commission is giving the promoter use of the grounds for free. Some 70,000 tickets have already been sold.

The site of the famous battle of September 13, 1759 -- in which British soldiers defeated the French -- is situated in The Battlefields Park. It was declared the first historic site in Canada in 1908.

The park is used for numerous free events during the Quebec Winter Carnival, La Fête nationale du Québec, and Quebec City Summer Festival. Since 2008, concerts have also been staged there -- Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Metallica, Van Halen and Celine Dion -- but none have charged a direct admission fee for the Plains of Abraham.

Quote of ther Day

From a musical perspective, Jennifer Lopez has viewed Madonna as a big influence.  In an interview with NY Rock, when asked who her first biggest musical influence was, she stated:

"I think Madonna. For my era growing up, [she] was the quintessential performer, and a push-the-envelope type of person. I don't think that I'm a push-the-envelope type of person. But I think Madonna was so visionary. And in her shows, she was so expressive. So that was very inspiring for me as a young girl. I remember seeing a lot of her shows."

Strike a Pose - 2012

I'm sexy and I know it!
A diamond shines even in the ruff, with or without photoshop Madonna looks good, even the young get photoshopped, so why not a 53 year old?  As the saying goes 'fine wine gets better with age'.

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for Madonna’s album MDNA

From Little Star to Superstar!

During a reacent interview Average Mag spent a LOT of time talking about her oldest daughter, Lourdes' recent accomplishments. Momdonna gushed:
“She's my background singer. She just came over to the studio that day. Then I said, 'Oh, can you sing this part?' and she agreed to. She has a very good voice. She's quite shy about it and won't admit it.”
Madonna swears her 15-year-old didn't ask for the background job -- or any job for that matter! The Material Mom says:
“Lots of people are knocking on my door to meet her about everything, movies and what-not. But she's not really interested in any of it. She just wants to go to school. She says to me, 'Mum, I just want to be a normal kid. I'm not ready for any of that'. I respect that, and if she ever wants to work with me on any level I welcome it. But otherwise I leave her to her homework and school.”
Wait. Wait. Wait. She's a 15-year-old AMERICAN girl that is NOT chopping at the bit for a chance to be famous??
The Reviews for Lucky Star, er Little Star..I mean...SUPERSTAR:

Ironically, Superstar isn’t one of the William Orbit tracks, but it sure sounds like one. It’s the album’s ‘rock’ track and stands as another prime single candidate. The melody is sublime, the kind of thing long-time Madonna fans have been waiting years for, and released here, it’s like a cleansing burst of pure radiance. Even the slightly shoe-horned in dubstep section can’t detract from the song, it’s that good.
The album’s first electric guitar before Madonna pays her lover a series of compliments. “You’re like Brando on the silver screen,” she says, which any man would like — more than “You’re like Caesar, stepping on to the throne.”

This track feels a bit lightweight amongst the others. There’s a Katy Perry vibe. The “Oh la la you’re my superstar” chorus seems like a incongruous filler with the cheeky cringey teen lyrics: “You’re like Abe Lincoln because you fight for what’s right”. Maybe Lourdes helped her with this one?

“Superstar” Notably this track features the backing vocals of Madonna’s eldest child, Lourdes (credited as Lola Leon), and name checks everyone from Marlon Brando and Michael Jordan to Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln. The gist here is: “Ooh la la, you’re my superstar” and “I’m your biggest fan, it’s true.” Armed with yet another kicky dubstep bridge, Madonna also amusingly sings about how the “Superstar” subject of her devotion is “like John Travolta, getting into the groove.” (Get it? She’s referencing herself again — but in a smart, cheeky way.)

Not the first song to see Madonna name check Marlon Brando, this is decent enough mid-album album fare. “Ooh la la, you’re a superstar” goes the idiosyncratic chorus and we bob our head along obligingly. As another bassy wobble reigns in, the album is beginning to feel like a more refined version of Britney’s Femme Fatale. We liked Femme Fatale, a lot.

I'll Remember...1985

After the recording of "Crazy for You", the soundtrack single for the 1985 coming of age drama Vision Quest, Madonna approached John "Jellybean" Benitez to produce another of her self-written songs called "Gambler". Subsequently, the song was added to the soundtrack of the film, as music producer Phil Ramone felt that it would be appropriate for using in the beginning shots of the film.   As the song was recorded on the Geffen label, a commercial issue of the single, in the United States was suppressed, at the request of Madonna's Sire Records management. They feared that commercial availability of another Madonna single would have been detrimental to the other singles from the Like a Virgin album, and the already available, Geffen-distributed, "Crazy for You". Hence "Gambler" was never released, or sent for airplay in the United States.  The UK 12" single, contained the Extended Dance Mix, Instrumental Remix, and the song "Nature of the Beach" by Black 'n Blue. The 7" single had the original version, and "Nature of the Beach".   The video for "Gambler" is similar to "Crazy for You", with Madonna singing the song along with clips culled from Vision Quest. Madonna filmed her performance on November 22, 1983, at the Big Foot Tavern in Spokane, Washington.  To date, "Gambler" remains the last self-written Madonna single.

"Gambler" was released in October 1985 in the United Kingdom, and debuted at position twenty on the UK Singles Chart. After two weeks, it peaked there at four, and was present for 14 weeks. By the end of 1985, Madonna chalked up another record with the song, becoming the first female artist to have eight UK Top 10s in one calendar year. The song was certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for shipment of 200,000 copies of the single. According to The Official Charts Company, the song has sold 295,000 copies there. In Australia, the song debuted on the Kent Music Report chart at 14, and reached a peak of ten. In Germany, the song debuted at 39 on the Media Control Charts, and reached a peak of 25 after five weeks, being present on the chart for 12 weeks.  Across Europe, the song reached the top-ten of the charts in Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Norway. It peaked at 12 in Japan, 23 in Switzerland and 45 in New Zealand.

Madonna has only performed this song live once, on her 1985 The Virgin Tour. It was the first song, of the second act of the show. Madonna wore a black, fringed micro-top and similar skirt, with her belly-button exposed, and a number of crucifixes in different sizes, hanging from different parts of her body. As the guitar intro of the song started, Madonna appeared on the side-stage and started dancing energetically, while flashlights fell on her. While singing the song, she sometimes opened her jacket and sometimes straddled the steel structure present on the stage. The performance ended with Madonna jumping off the side stage, onto the main stage. It was included on the video release, titled Live – The Virgin Tour, which was shot in Detroit.

Madonna: ‘I Wish I Could Sing Like That’

madgewhit Madonna on Whitney Houston: I Wish I Could Sing Like That
As one of few reigning pop monarchs left, many have been keen on Queen of Pop Madonna‘s thoughts on the passing of pop icon Whitney Houston.
While for years the two were touted as rivals as they dominated 80s and 90s charts with few comparison, Madge took to UK paper The Sun to remember the ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer and also share her thoughts on late “blue eyed soulstress”Amy Winehouse.

Madonna, via ‘The Sun’:
“I, probably like everybody else, was hit by this shocking sense of disbelief – especially with Whitney Houston. It had not been a secret, the struggles Amy had been through — both brilliant, brilliant artists and obviously both huge losses.
“But when these things happen, I’m always shocked by the first thing you say — ‘It’s such a loss’ — which doesn’t quite cover it. Then you reflect and you think, ‘How did it happen? How did the people around them allow it to happen?’ We’ve lost so many great artists that way when you think about it. So history just kind of repeats itself over and over.
“One thing I was struck by with Whitney Houston is I remember she sort of came out as a singer around the same time I did.  I remember looking at her singing and hearing people talk about her, and just thinking, ‘Oh my God. She’s such a beautiful woman and my God, what an incredible voice. I wish I could sing like that.’
I just remember being extremely envious of her and also touched by her innocence.
“I was watching a documentary about Serge Gainsbourg, the French songwriter, and there’s a famous talk show he did that happened a while back when Whitney was just starting. It was funny, because I’d just watched it the week before she died, where he was making a kind of play for her on national television and he was basically saying in French that he wanted to ‘f’ her — and the look of shock on her face…
“I mean, she was so innocent and so young, and so cute, and really she blushed. And I was thinking, ‘We are all innocent at one stage in our life. It’s just interesting, the paths our lives take. I was struck by that — how well she started and where she ended up and the tragedy of it.”
Here’s the clip Madge was speaking of.  Start at the 1:00 mark

Madonna To Start A Shoe Line!

Truth Or Dare by Madonna and Aldo - Press ReleaseTruth Or Dare by Madonna and Aldo - Press ReleaseMadonna's Footwear Line
Madonna will be starting a new footwear line under the new Truth or Dare label, which is owned by MG Icon.
The line will have more than 60 styles, including flats, heels, booties, over-the-knee boots and will retail anywhere from $89 - $349.
Her stylist Arianne Phillips will be a creative consultant on the collection.
Speaking about Madge's influence on the shoes, Phillips said:
"Her fingers are really on this brand. The first thing I did was remind her of all the shoes she wore over the years, and we took the styles that we can’t live without. You can always depend on her to bring her style and provocateur quality, but she also has a very feminine perspective."
We are super excited about this endeavor! We can't believe it's taken this long to get our queen to create a shoe line!
The collection will be available later this year.

GIVE IT 2 ME on CRACK?

Material Girl Madonna is slowly but surely amping fans up for her latest material.  Although no major promo campaign will accompany  ‘MDNA’, the Grammy winner’s 12th LP (March 26th), that hasn’t stopped her from readying the follow-up to its lead, top 10 single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’.

However, with no Superbowl hype to consort the album’s second offering, does it have enough standalone staying power to slay charts?  To get fans all riled up, Madge has prepped a sneak peek for the soon-to-be-released visual.

Check out all the action below and tell us if Madge is headed for a hit:

Madonna - The Look Of Love - Rare French red sleeve 7"
Rare French 2 track 7" of The Look Of Love.  Fantastic French issue with the red sleeve, different to every other issue Worldwide.  Side 1:The Look Of Love

Side 2:  I Know It

I hated 'I Know It' back in the day when I first got the 'Madonna' album.  I thought it didn't fit in with the funky vibes of the rest of the album.  But, now listening to it I have gain a new appreciation for it.  It’s kind of old skool, like a 'True Blue' vibe.  I can envision the 'True Blue' video as the prequel to 'I Know It' and then it ends with 'Gang Bang'!
