ht marilyn monroe madonna nude jrs 120508 wblog Nude Photos of Marilyn, Madonna Up for Auction

Nude photographs of American icons Marilyn Monroe and Madonna are up for auction today at Bonhams in New York.
The images of the topless beauties hit the auction block today along with more than 150 other items.

An image of another topless beauty will be sold at the Bonhams auction. This black-and-white photograph of Madonna, taken by U.S. photographer Steven Meisel in 1990, has an estimated value of $10,000. The music icon, known for her often racy outfits, poses here naked, cigarette in hand, with only a sheet to cover herself.

Tour Will Start Without an Album on the Charts

And that’s it. Madonna’s “MDNA” is gone from the top 50 of any charts as of this week. Hitsdailydouble.com has dropped it out of its top 50. Amazon.com has the physical CD at number 63. All versions of the downloadable album are gone from view. iTunes has it around number 250. Apparently, very few people downloaded the album at all. Madonna, though she likes a youthful outlook, belongs to the class of artists who are not big on the digital side. “MDNA” is now officially gone, three weeks before Madonna begins her international tour in Israel. The only way to have saved “MDNA” would have been to reissue it with something new. But Madonna wouldn’t have much time to rehearse her show and cut new tracks. The tour will go on without a promotional tool or a song on the radio. It’s not the best way to do things, but if Madge features a lot of hits in the show, she’ll be alright. If the tour set list is heavy with songs from “MDNA,” it may be a problem. At least Guy Richie doesn’t have to worry that too many people heard the nasty things Madonna sang about him. As for the tour, Madonna’s website indicates lots of tickets still for sale. But there are many sold out dates, and comments of great enthusiasm from her core fans. If only they’d bought the album. PS amazon is still selling versions of it for five bucks.

Oh someone tell him to SHUT IT!

Perfume Logo Attracts Lawsuit

Madonna’s new perfume is facing a lawsuit from an Australian artist who claims the packaging for the fragrance is copied from his trademarked logo.

The ‘Truth or Dare’ perfume was launched in New York last month, with the Queen of Pop herself putting in an appearance at Macy’s. But artist RJ Williams says the ‘M’ symbol on the perfume’s bottle and cardboard sleeve resembles his own artwork a little too closely – you can compare for yourself above.
Williams says he trademarked the logo last year, and has used it on clothing that he has sold for eight years now. He views the perfume logo as a breach of copyright. He told Australia’s The Sunday Telegraph:
“Friends from all over the world have been calling me upon seeing the Truth or Dare by Madonna campaign to express their disgust and support. It’s about my integrity as an artist. I do not think it should be able to be used by a giant cosmetics company.”
The artist adds that he has sent a legal letter to Madonna’s agent, Guy Oseary. In his correspondence, Williams requested that the star immediately stop infringing his copyright, and has asked to be provided with all profits made so far. He has suggested entering into a licence with him for future use of the symbol.

Do you think the two symbols are too close for comfort? Tell us in the comments!

I'll Remember...2005

Making the Video -Sorry
PhotoIn early 2006, Madonnareleased her second single from the Confessions on a Dance Floor album entitledSorry. The immediately catchy track was produced byMadonna and her very talented musical partner Stuart Price. Stuart worked on many of the songs on the Confessions album. While the song failed to make a huge impact on the Hot 100 Billboard Charts, it was a massive success on the Billboard dance charts. The song reached # 1 on the Hot Dance Airplay chart and the Dance Club chart. One great thing about new Madonna singles is all of the remixes that are born. Madonna has always kept a keen ear to what is is hot in the DJ world. For the Sorry mixes, she commissioned some of the best in the biz. Paul Oakenfold, Green Velvet and even the Pet Shop Boys put their unique twist on the song. The music video was directed by Madonna's longtime friend and choreographer Jamie King. Jamie began working with Madonna back in 1995 when he choreographed Madonna's Human Nature video which remains one of my favorites. The video is the sequel to Madonna's Hung Up video. The Sorry video picks right back up where Hung Up left off. As with Hung Up, Madonna is rocking the leotard and doing dance moves that many of the younger pop starlets couldn't dream of. The video is super duper fun. The song was featured twice within her Confessions Tour - once as a straight up performance and then a remix video was also put together as an interlude between songs. In the remix video there are images of Madonna against a neon electric background which are interspersed with footage of prominent world leaders, as well as visions of poverty, deforestation, and war. Madonna's spoken vocals emphasize the words "lies" and "talk is cheap". Featured below are various Sorry videos including the director's cut of the video, the performance of the song from the Confessions Tour as well as the interlude mentioned above.

Beastie Boys Co-Founder Adam Yauch Dead at 48

Celebrities and music fans alike were stunned and devastated to hear on Friday that Adam Yauch had passed away after a three-year battle with throat cancer, and now, Madonna herself is speaking out publicly in honor of the Beastie Boys rapper, who along with his bandmates, opened for her during the 1985 Like A Virgin Tour!
The Queen of Pop took to her Facebook page to write:
The Beastie Boys were one of a kind! And so was Adam!
They were all an important part of my musical history and integral to the musical revolution that was happening at the time.
I’m very sad to hear about Adam’s passing.
God bless him and his family
Short, sweet, extremely heartfelt, and 100% true!
Another absolutely tragic loss for music this year. So, so sad.

Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 48, Rolling Stone has learned. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland.

Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. The Beastie Boys had not performed live since the summer of 2009, and Yauch's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2.

Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz in 1979. The band started off as a hardcore punk group, but soon began experimenting with hip-hop. The band broke big with their first proper album, Licensed to Ill, in 1986, and further albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication cemented the band as a true superstar act.

In addition to his career with the Beastie Boys, Yauch was heavily involved in the movement to free Tibet and co-organized the Tibetan Freedom Concerts of the late Nineties. In 2002, he launched the film production company Oscilloscope Laboratories.

Happy Birthday Keith Haring

MADONNA
Do I Seem Finished?

The ravens that say "Madonna is finished, the new album does not sell" (the truth is, the numbers of the first week sales of MDNA are the best time since the Music album in 2000, and in the end, the album will sell more than Hard Candy did 4 years ago). For the critics who massacred her as a film director; go and judge for yourselves (W. E. arrives on June 8).
