Inside Lady Gaga's Surprise 25th Birthday Bash
Ay caramba!

At a surprise 25th birthday party thrown by her pals at L.A's La Cita,
Lady Gaga hit the stage with the restaurant's Mariachi band.

As 60 close friends cheered on at the low-key Mexican hot spot, the birthday girl belted out several numbers, including hits by Motley Crue, Madonna and her own "Born This Way."

Sporting a blonde beehive and a shimmering, tight black dress, "she was onstage for most of the night performing for all her friends," a source tells UsMagazine.com. "No one knew she was going to go up there and perform with them, I think she just loves to be on stage and doing what she does so well."

Guests noshed on birthday cake (there were several) and when she wasn't on stage, Gaga was mingling with the crowd. "She was walking around saying hi to everyone," adds the source. "It was an amazing night."

Quote of the Day

"I laugh at myself.
I don't take myself completely seriously.
I think that's another quality that people have to hold on to... you have to laugh, especially at yourself."

Did you know that….

Madonna was once a drummer for a New York band?

The group, The Breakfast Club was formed in New York in the late 1970s, and went through several line-ups including one in which Madonna was the drummer.

Ex-boyfriends Dan Gilroy and Stephan Bray were also members of the Breakfast Club. Dan Gilroy allowed her to sing some lead vocals. Madonna ultimately left to form a new band called Emmy. A later member of the band was American Idol judge Randy Jackson.

The Look of Love

On November 25, 1987 the third and final single from the  'Who's That Girl' soundtrack, "The Look of Love" was released.  While shooting for the film, then called Slammer, Madonna had requested that producer Patrick Leonard develop a downtempo song that captured the nature of her film persona. She later added the lyrics and vocals to the demo tape developed by Leonard, and the song was "The Look of Love".

Madonna was inspired by the 1954 film 'Rear Window' and the look that actor James Stewart gave actress Grace Kelly. She said: "I can't describe it, but that is the way I want someone to look at me when he loves me. It's the most pure look of love and adoration. Like surrender. It's devastating."

"The Look of Love" was released in the United Kingdom, some European countries and Japan. "I Know It", a track from Madonna's self-titled debut album, appeared as the B-side.  In 1989, the song was used as the B-side for the "Express Yourself" single release.  In the United Kingdom, "The Look of Love" was released on December 12, 1987 and entered the UK Singles Chart at position 15. The next week, it reached a peak of nine on the chart, her first single to miss the top five since "Lucky Star". It reached the top ten of the charts in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. It also charted in France, Germany and Switzerland, while on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles of Billboard, it reached 17.

Madonna's only live performances of the song were on her Who's That Girl World Tour in 1987.  As she finished the performance of "Causing a Commotion", the spotlight was focused on her. The introductory music of "The Look of Love" started and Madonna roamed around the stage, pretending that she was lost.

She wanted to portray her Who's That Girl character Nikki, when she was lost in a similar sequence in the film. After she finished singing the song, Madonna pretended to walk forward by pushing through the air, as the conveyor belt took her backwards, ultimately taking her away from the stage.

Adele's '21' Ties Madonna U.K. Album Charts Record

Adele's epic reign on the U.K. sales charts strengthened again yesterday (Mar. 27), as her "21" album (XL) started a ninth week at No. 1 and its single "Someone Like You" climbed back to the top, 2-1, giving it five of the last six weeks at the summit.

It's just over ten years since any album spent nine weeks in a row at No. 1 in the U.K.; the Beatles' "1" compilation achieved the feat from November 2000 to January 2001. "21" is the first album by a solo female to spend this long at the U.K. peak since Madonna's "The Immaculate Collection" exactly ten years before that, from November 1990 to January 1991.

"21" sold another 156,000 copies last week, according to the Official Charts Company, to take its total sales to Saturday night (26) to 1,496,588. "Someone Like You" sold a further 82,000 units and Adele's first album "19" another 47,000, to post another week at No. 2.
