Cher is clearing up some rumors that she and Madonna don't get along. During an 'Ask Me Anything' on Reddit, Cher revealed that she doesn't actually hate Madge, she just always considered her a ... well, see for yourself: "I never hated her, I just thought she was a bitch. Actually I quite respect her," Cher admitted." To be honest, Cher is a huge fan of Madonna's and thinks she paved the way for artists like Lady Gaga. Just last week, the 67-year-old told USA Today that Gaga has "got 'it'" the way Madonna "had 'it.'" "Actually I think Madge might be one of the most amazing artists I've known. I don't like everything she does, for sure, but she is always riding the crest of the wave. She always saw trends WAY before anyone else, and had great videos," Cher explained of the 55-year-old singer on Reddit, continuing, "So, besides saying "WTF [is] MDNA", I'm fine with it." Back in July 2012, Cher tweeted, "WTF is mdna," and got some backlash from Madonna lovers. "Didnt mean throw shade on Madge!," Cher responded, "shes [the] Best at a what She Does! Called her Bad word once! Not nice! Ok didnt know Mdna shoot me i liv[e] in cave."
Both women are pioneers. While I think Madonna has the edge on Cher when it comes to cultural impact and a legends status in the history of Rock and Roll, Cher accomplished a successful acting career that Madonna never quite seemed to achieve. It's nice to hear Cher give Madonna some creds. Madonna needs to return the favor.
