Uh-oh. Shiz is getting real.
A federal grand jury in New York has issued subpoenas for The Kabbalah Centre and two of Madonna's affiliated charities, Spirituality for Kids and Raising Malawi.
The organizations are currently under a government investigation for "tax-related issues." The investigation will look into several court actions involving The Centre's investors.
The Centre says they will cooperate and work closely with the IRS to resolve the matter. Trevor Neilson of Global Philanthropy Group says: "We have tried to provide as much information as we can as quickly as possible to the people who are investigating and are very actively cooperating in every way we can." Meanwhile, Madonna has been distancing herself from the Centre, which is a SMART move. Seems there's a lot of dramz going on, which takes the focus off of helping people.
