Lady Gaga: “Madonna inspired my album”…

Promotional juggernaut Lady Gaga recently sat down with English actor and author Stephen Fry of ‘Financial Times’ magazine to discuss everything that makes Gaga tick from the fame, fashion, fans and of course…Madonna. Random: Am I the only one not here for Gaga’s obsession with Devil Horns this era?
Peep the interview below in which she comes off as very personable and honest.

“I genuinely love her so much. I think she is so amazing. She could never be replicated and, yes, I’m Italian, I’m from New York, and not for nothing, it’s not my fault that I kind of look like her, right? So, look, if anything, it’s more annoying to me that people would insinuate that I don’t like to be compared to her… She’s wonderful and inspiring and liberating, and she’s certainly inspired my album, as did David Bowie, as did Prince, as did Michael Jackson, as did Grace Jones, and I would never take that away.”

The truth is Lady Gaga is following in Madonna’s controversial footsteps and probably has a mapped out blueprint of Madge’s career tucked under one of her wigs at all times for safe keeping. I see no problem in it as long as she gives credit where credit is due and acknowledges the fact that most of what she’s doing today Madonna has already done. Notably absent from Gaga’s iconic list of inspiration for ‘Born This Way’ was Whitney Houston (surly she cited Whitney to throw us off the obvious stench of Madonna’s influence all over ‘BTW’), whom Gaga has said many times was the main influence for her vocally and sonically, particularly with this album. Did you hear Whitney’s influence on the album? Oh well, that’s neither here nor there, just something to ponder.
