It's Tough to be a Diva These Days
Katy Perry changes outfits eight times during just one song on her current concert tour.
That may sound excessive, but what concertgoers see when Perry performs "Hot N Cold," illustrates how hard it is to be a music diva these days. You have to get the attention of the media as often as you can. New hairdo, new tweet, new drama.
Diana Ross, Madonna and Mariah Carey never had it like this.
"When Lady Gaga's record came out and she was doing TV all over the world, I would say it's five times more than Madonna did," said publicist-to-the-stars Liz Rosenberg, who has represented Madonna forever and Cher for the past 12 years. "If they're not saying 'You're overexposed,' then you're not doing your job."
Madonna’s Publicist Commends Lady GaGa For Doing More Than Madonna
Whoa. That's saying A LOT!But then again, she does have a point.
Liz Rosenberg has been by Madonna's side for many, many years. In a recent interview, she was asked to talk about the rise of Lady GaGa and how her career is parralleling that of Madge's. Turns out, Liz thinks that GaGaloo is doing far more in this early stage of her career than Madonna had done in the 80s. She explained:
“When Lady Gaga’s record came out and she was doing TV all over the world, I would say it’s five times more than Madonna did. If they’re not saying ‘You’re overexposed,’ then you’re not doing your job. The appetite is insatiable. It’s way more extreme than it used to be on the wardrobe part. Some divas work directly with couture designers; some have stylists who pick out their clothes. Any way you look at it, fans expect much more. They used to just expect a great record and maybe a little press. The revelation of a lot of their lives is amped up these days. Drama, though, doesn’t always equate with commercial success.”

Listen to this clip of 'Like A Virgin
'...
'...I have to agree with what the video is saying here. If you listen to the other songs on the like a virgin CD her voice is much lower in all the other songs... i.e. Over and Over, Angel, Dress You Up... Her voice was obviously altered for the 'Like a Virgin' recording. I think that the same technique was used on 'Into the Groove' and 'Lucky Star'.

Britney Spears Tribute To Include Madonna?
As has been making rounds across the net, producer/casting director John “Woody” Woodbeck has set the Twitterverse ablaze with mention of music icons Madonna and Janet Jackson honoring pop princess Britney Spears at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The producer said:
Hmm…this sounds more like a stan fantasy than a legit line-up. While Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Nicki Minaj will all be in attendance, their connections with Britney are well-documented (writing, tourmate, etc) – thusly, making their involvement more believable. But, for pop Queens Madonna and Janet Jackson to tribute Spears, that seems a bit…much. However, even with no official confirmation from MTV, the news has been making headlines all over magazine and blog sites alike (and MTV has yet to dispel the rumors)."If this lineup is legit (which I’m told it is) the tribute to Britney at the VMAs is gonna be insanely EPIC!! Wow! Wow! Wow!"
Alas, we will all have to tune into the show on August 28th to find out the real lineup. Until then, fans can whet their appetites by seeing Spears’ MTV promo spot here (which interestingly features music from both Madge and Miss Jackson).

Madonna Going On Family Trip For Her Birthday!!!
Sounds like this should be a wonderful trip! Yesterday, Madonna was spotted with her BF Brahim Zaibat and her children Mercy, David, and Lourdes at JFK airport (above, and below). Madge and co. were headed overseas for a family celebration in honor of her 53rd birthday! Between this trip and her weekend in the Hamptons, it sounds like she's having a wonderful bday!
