NFL Now Wants M.I.A. to Pay $16.6 Million

The NFL is now demanding $16.6 million from M.I.A. in the ongoing case surrounding her brief middle-finger gesture during the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This follows the NFL's two-year attempt at getting $1.5 million dollars from her—claiming that M.I.A.'s "offensive" finger happened "in flagrant disregard for the values that form the cornerstone of the NFL brand and the Super Bowl." According to the NFL, M.I.A. breached a pre-show agreement to maintain the NFL's "reputation for wholesomeness".

The NFL's additional $15.1 million comes in "restitution"—the number was arrived at based on the alleged value of exposure M.I.A. received for appearing in Madonna's performance, and what an advertiser would have paid for this time, reports The Hollywood Reporter. In other words: The NFL seems to be equating M.I.A.'s seconds-long bird-flip with a fee for the most expensive commercial spots that exist on television.
M.I.A.'s lawyers responded in a document filed Friday: "The claim for restitution lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic." According to The Hollywood Reporter, M.I.A. also said "the continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL."

M.I.A. is attempting to dismantle the NFL's claims at "wholesomeness,", bringing up halftime performances by Michael Jackson, Prince, and even Madonna that included lewd gestures. Her lawyers also point to recent NFL scandals involving racial slurs, bullying, and head trauma.

House of Givenchy

The House of Givenchy is pleased to announce that Riccardo Tisci designed all costumes worn by Madonna during her half time performance at the Superbowl on February 5th, 2012 in Indianapolis.
Performing at the Superbowl for the first time, Madonna has chosen Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci for her unique performance.
Designed as part of the spectacle, all costumes were changed on stage, from an all over hand-embroidered gold cape that served as the performance’s opener, to the unveiling of a black mini dress worn with its hand-studded belt and an embellished black coat that completed the three costumes set: Madonna’s legendary music met Riccardo Tisci’s codes in what seemed to be the most perfect way.

Madonna Holds Super Bowl XLVI Press Conference

Madonna talks to reporters during a news conference at the JW Marriott Downtown today.
Getting back to her Midwest roots (she’s from Michigan), Madonna was spotted at the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show Press Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana today (February 2).

The “Music” songstress looked to be in good spirits as she posed for the cameras at the Super Bowl XLVI Media Center, sporting a black vest over a black and white printed top and black trousers.

As for her film career, Madge told press that she loved directing “W.E.” and is looking to take on another inspirational story for an upcoming movie project.

"There's a lot of stories that I'm interested in. I'm obviously always going to be drawn to stories about strong females 'cause we need, I need them, for inspiration. Well there's a story, but you won't even know about this person, Jane Digby."

"She was in the English aristocrat in the [19]th century and she was excommunicated or outcast from society because she had an affair and she had a child. One of her Bedouin guides became one of her closest friends and confidants. And she ended up falling in love with him and he fell in love with her. But he did have several other wives and he wanted to marry her."

Esquire Magazine: Madonna at Halftime, Home at Last

She is the kind of superstar a game like the Super Bowl deserves.
The Super Bowl halftime show is America's penitential stage. It is the biggest gig in the world, with the biggest audience, and it draws the biggest acts. But in many ways it's like the game itself: deracinated from any real fan base, given over to corporate excess, spectacular only in the sense that it offers spectacle, loud and overblown, subordinate to the products being hawked on the commercials. The game, however, often rises above the Christians-versus-lions atmosphere of excess because, after all, it's football — those really are Christians and lions, they're tearing each other apart, and despite all the artificiality they really do bleed. The halftime show never does. We watch Tom Brady and Eli Manning to see how good they might be; we watch The Who or The Stones or even Bruce to see how bad. Performers don't get to sing at the Super Bowl halftime unless they're among the very best in the world; and yet we watch them for the same reason we watch the first round of American Idol.

LMFAO & FOO Fighters To Join Madonna For Superbowl Performance?

Who will be Madonna's guest performers on stage at the Super Bowl 2012 halftime show? So far a lot of speculation has been from the Foo Fighters to M.I.A.. The latest buzz is it could be Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., or L.M.F.A.O. The only hint that the Material Girl singer is giving is that "pom poms" will join her.

The news was broken by Will.i.am during a radio interview earlier today in which he said that the 'Party Rock Anthem' duo, whom he is currently managing, will be at the Superbowl to play with The Material Girl herself.
"I'm going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna." he told Capital FM.

Adding: Check that out, will.i.am Music Group is pretty freaking two for two. One year the Super Bowl the next year another group part of the Super Bowl in collaboration with Madonna. That's still happening."

Madonna said this when asked about which singers will entertain at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis: "I am not saying 'Yes,' and I am not saying 'No.'" Her mysterious answer was, "Pom poms. That's all I can tell you."

A number of musicians are believed to take the stage. Not much else has been rumored about the Foo Fighters, but the entertainment will remain fairly tight-lipped about who will give a great show at the Super Bowl.

Madonna admits she is nervous to the pressure to put on a perfect show, especially the stage preparation and removal. Her people have eight minutes to put it up for a 12-minute halftime show before having to remove everything in seven minutes. That is a tight deadline, to say the least. If anyone can handle such a major undertaking on a grand scale, it is Madonna.

Madonna may treat the Super Bowl to a gay old time, claims one of her dancers

1990_-_Lorraine_Day_03.jpgMadonna is “bringing gay to the Super Bowl.” That’s what we overheard one of her dancers say at the premiere party for Her Madgesty’s “W.E.” at Top of the Standard on Monday night. On the red carpet, Madonna told us she’s “extremely nervous” about the big game, but looking forward to singing her new song, “Give Me All Your Love,” and some “oldies but goodies.” She also said the best fashion advice she’s gotten from her daughter Lourdes — who was escorted into the Cinema Society and Forevermark sponsored screening by two bodyguards — was, “Mom, you’re totally ridiculous. No one is going to take you seriously as a director.” At the Le Bain after-party, Madonna shook it on the dance floor and cuddled with beau Brahim Zaibat. Bravo’s Andy Cohen and actors Julia Stiles and her very affectionate boyfriend, Dave Harbour, also attended.

Madonna At The Super Bowl: 7 Songs We Hope She Plays

Blockbuster entertainment just got better, or at least could be for at least one 30-minute stretch in February. After two years of Super Bowl halftime performances that earned mostly boos —The Who's faltering attempt to rock out in 2009 and The Black Eyed Peas' typically ADHD-inducing routine in 2010 — a take-charge woman might be moving in to tidy up the place. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Madonna is reportedly in talks with the NFL to play the halftime show.
Doubters might question Madonna's ability to be family-friendly, or the wisdom in bringing her estrogen-powered hits into a testosterone-fueled environment like Indianapolis's Lucas Oil Stadium. But Madonna was born (or self-invented, anyway) to play the Super Bowl.
Our Lady of Platinum and Corsets is the most competitive player in the history of American music — an up-by-the-bra-straps Horatio Alger who's consistently worked to have the biggest crossover hits, the most elaborate tours, the most attention-getting videos and the tightest abs in pop. Since the 1980s, she's eaten steamed vegetables out of Tupperware to stay in fighting form when she could have dined on caviar every night. And she loves sports!
Sure, Madonna's taste runs to athletic pursuits that aren't the most conventional: parkour, yoga, feminist boxing. But her fighting spirit will serve her well on that awkward mid-field stage, making her appearance the most Super Bowl-appropriate in years. Here's a playlist of Madonna songs that would perfectly fit the halftime show.

Report: Madonna to play Super Bowl XLVI halftime show?

It’s a good thing no NFL team has hydrangeas as a mascot.
The sports website SB Nation is reporting that Madonna will take to the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show.
The NFL is not commenting, and when reached by EW, Madonna’s rep says there’s “nothing to confirm at this point” — which is about as soft a “no comment” as one gets.
So is it possible? Last month, Ms. Ciccone told reporters while promoting her film W.E. that she’s been recording a new album with producers William Orbit (who helmed her 1998 album Ray of Light) and French DJ Martin Solveig (of the inescapable “Hello”).

HUGE! Madonna Reported To Perform At The Super Bowl Halftime Show!!!

Can't … breathe!!!!
If what we're hearing is correct, we might have to throw our first ever Super Bowl party this year because - brace yourselves - Madonna is going to be headlining the halftime show!!!!!
This would be a first for her and a first for us all as she'll most likely be performing a new single off the new album coming out next year!!!! Can't get any bigger or better promotion than that! Smart!!!!
Biggest news of the year!!! We're so excited, our exclamation button is going to order a restraining order!!!!!
