Madonna Covered...

It’s no secret that Britney Spears is a huge Madonna fan, so it wasn’t too surprising when she covered the legendary diva’s 1983 single “Burning Up” on her Femme Fatale tour. (At least for the first couple of dates). It turns out she also recorded a demo of the song for her similarly titled 2011 album and it has finally surfaced online.
There’s not a lot to say about her version. The production is awkwardly faithful to the original (remember, it is a demo) and Britney just goes through the motions vocally. I guess it’s as close as we’ll ever get to hearing the enduring pop icon sing karaoke, which is fabulous in and of itself. Right? Listen to Ms. Spears give her best Madonna impression below.
Was it wise to scrap this cover? Have your say in the comments below.

10 Years On: Madonna/Britney/Christina Kiss

Some people think it was Big Love that made America seriously think about polygamy in a big way. But those of us with slightly longer memories know it was really the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, which went down in history for a wedding scene between Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. No actual vows were swapped between this terrible threesome, of course...just spit.
Can it really have been a whole decade since the country lost its collective innocence about girl-on-material-girl-on-dirrty-girl action? The three stars weren't the only ones with their mouths wide open, as millions of viewers' jaws dropped in unison.
The opening production number of the August 28, 2003 VMAs would have been newsworthy enough if it had just been a duet between Britney and Christina, as it initially appeared to be. These two sexpots had been rivals since their "Mickey Mouse Club" days, so when they teamed up to pay tribute to Madonna by donning her famous bridal gear for a duet of "Like a Virgin," her-story was being made. But that newsworthy detente was overshadowed when Madonna herself emerged, in some equivalent of groom's wear. In an instant, it was clear who still wore the pants in the diva world.
If you forgot that Aguilera was even in on this, you're not the only one. After Madonna got smoochy with Spears, the cameras cut away to the latter's ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, in the audience. By the time Madge moved on to Aguilera seconds later, the Christina kiss had already been rendered anticlimactic.

MADONNA COVERED...

In honor of Britney Spears' 30th birthday, a previously unreleased track from the pop star has made its way onto the net, and it is definitely worth more than just a listen!

Check out Love 2 Love U, which samples Madonna's La Isla Bonita!
I personally think it could have been 10X better.  The beautiful melody that we all know is lost in between...well everything.  Too much going on for me.
Oh well..props to Brit for once again letting us know who her idol is.

Britney Spears Tribute To Include Madonna?

As has been making rounds across the net, producer/casting director John “Woody” Woodbeck has set the Twitterverse ablaze with mention of music icons Madonna and Janet Jackson honoring pop princess Britney Spears at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.  The producer said:
"If this lineup is legit (which I’m told it is) the tribute to Britney at the VMAs is gonna be insanely EPIC!! Wow! Wow! Wow!"
Hmm…this sounds more like a stan fantasy than a legit line-up.  While Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Nicki Minaj will all be in attendance, their connections with Britney are well-documented (writing, tourmate, etc) – thusly, making their involvement more believable.  But, for pop Queens Madonna and Janet Jackson to tribute Spears, that seems a bit…much.  However, even with no official confirmation from MTV, the news has been making headlines all over magazine and blog sites alike (and MTV has yet to dispel the rumors).

Alas, we will all have to tune into the show on August 28th to find out the real lineup.  Until then, fans can whet their appetites by seeing Spears’ MTV promo spot here (which interestingly features music from both Madge and Miss Jackson).

I am thinking that this is fake...what about you?
