Madonna's Malawi School Plans Discontinued

Oh no!  It looks like that Madonna's Malawi school, which was planned to be built by her charity, has unfortunately been scrapped as a feasible idea for now.  After a reported $3.8 million dollars went into the plan, the production has been ceased due to issues with the charity itself.
The board of directors has been replaced, because the last executive director (Phillippe van de Bossche) had allegedly had his hands in the funds, using them for personal shizz like a car, driver, and gold club membership.

What a terrible thing to do! It's a charity! So sad.
The singer had these things to say in regards to everything:  "There's a real education crisis in Malawi. Sixty-seven percent of girls don't go to secondary school, and this is simply unacceptable. Our team is going to work hard to address this in every way we can. While I'm proud of [other] accomplishments, I'm frustrated that our education work has not moved forward in a faster way."

Stay positive, Madonna! With some extra work, we're sure things can turn out for the better!
This is just a little set back for someone like you, who tends to get things done no matter what!
Good luck, and we hope to see the school plans up and running again soon!

RIP Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor died at the age of 79 early this morning at Cedar's Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.  "She was surrounded by her children- Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton," Taylor's publicist, Sally Morrison, confirmed in a statement.  A brain tumour, skin cancer, pneumonia and congestive heart failure were among her catalogue of ailments and she underwent three hip replacements.

Both on screen and off, the actress' violet eyes were irresistible and her star power formidable.

"I am so sorry to hear that this great legend has passed.  I admired and respected her not only as an actress but for her amazing and inspiring work as an AIDS activist. She was one of a kind."

Madonna's Speech at Elizabeth Taylor's Birthday Ceremony in 1996.

Quote of the Day

"Being blonde is definitely a different state of mind. I can't really put my finger on it, but the artifice of being blonde has some incredible sort of sexual connotation. Men really respond to it. I love blonde hair but it really does something different to you. I feel more grounded when I have dark hair, and I feel more ethereal when I have light hair.   It's unexplainable. I also feel more Italian when my hair is dark."

MADONNA FACT

Did you know that Madonna does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Madonna can have a star whenever she wants it. She meets all the criteria, but she's not interested in getting her star yet.  She was selected for the honour in 1990 but she showed no interest and the invitation has now expired. Walk of Fame spokeswoman Ana Martinez-Holler states that, in order to receive a star, Madonna would have to be "resubmitted for a nomination," adding, "since she is not interested, I highly doubt that she will give a nominator the permission to do so."

Sugarland Does Madonna!
Holy shiz! This is one EPIC rendition!

Check out this amazing cover of Madonna's Like a Prayer, performed by Sugarland and Little Big Town in Bloomington, Illinois on March 18th (above)!
Wow! Jennifer Nettles has one serious set of pipes, no?! And we really commend her being ballsy enough to do her own thing with the song, instead of just trying to mimic our Madge! She really pulls it off!

What do U think?? Do U like this cover of Like A Prayer??

Madonna was in Bay City Friday Night, says Funeral Home Director

BAY CITY — It is the question Bay City residents were wondering this weekend.

Was pop singer Madonna in Bay City for the funeral of her maternal grandmother Elsie Mae Fortin?

Mlive.com readers surfaced rumors throughout the weekend, saying Madonna was at Gephart Funeral Home in Bay City a day before the funeral.

I cannot confirm this personally but I was told Madonna was seen late Friday night exiting the funeral home with body guards and children present. We all know how Bay City rumors are so don't shoot the messenger here. Could have been a case of mistaken identity also.

According to David Luczak, co-owner of the funeral home, Madonna was at Fortin's memorial service Friday night.

Madonna was not at Fortin's funeral service Saturday morning, which saw about 150 people in attendance.

According to a report with anonymous sources by MyBayCity.com, Madonna arrived at the funeral home with her four children in two black sports utility vehicles.

While in Bay City, reports out of Britain said Madonna's London home was burglarized by a 29-year-old man, who was arrested early Saturday morning, according to CBSNews.com. Grzegorz Matlok, was expected in a London court Monday, charged with burglary.

Fortin died Wednesday in her Bay City home at the age of 99, about three months short of her 100th birthday.

Stalker Removed From Madonna's Home!

Scary!

It's a good thing she and her kids weren't there, because when her security detail arrived to detain the intruder, Grzegorz Matlok, 29, was found just standing there clutching some of Madonna's possessions.

He was then taken down by bodyguards around 6 am in the huge ten-bed Georgian townhouse.

And apparently he had even stalked her before!

Sounds like a horror movie.

While we're glad that Madonna wasn't there, it is in unfortunate that she had to be in the states attending her grandmother's funeral, who helped raised the pop star at a young age.

Glad you and your kids are safe and sound, Madonna!

We Love Madonna

Last week we debuted the first of two covers for our inaugural April 2011 "Ladies We Love" issue, which features Britney Spears, and today we premiere our other cover girl, Madonna.

While we pretty much love Madonna from every era of her career (OK, OK, there have been a few bumpy patches -- we're looking at you, American Life), we especially love the photos in our April issue shot by Richard Corman in NYC back in 1982, a year before the material girl's first album was released. Of the shoot Corman says:

She was like the Pied Piper of the neighborhood -- [the kids] loved her. They followed her, they danced with her, they sang with her. It was something they did on a daily basis, and it was remarkable. We just walked up and they gathered around. She put the boom box on -- it was her music, though I don’t remember which song -- and they just started dancing and singing. She was so alive and unpretentious. She was fierce, determined. Nothing was going to stop her.
Head to Out.com to see read the rest of Corman's account of shooting Madonna almost three decades ago and check out his gorgeous, hitherto unpublished photos of the icon, including 18 web-only images.

Check Out A Pre-Fame, Unpublished Photo Of Madonna!

This is so, SO cool.

As an alternate to the Britney Spears cover on this month's issue of OUT, the magazine has released this previous unseen, pre-fame footage of Madonna (above)!

According to the publication, the then-unheard of Madonna invited Richard Corman to photograph her while she walked around New York City, and this is one of those previously unpublished photos.

Wow. We wonder if he knew back then what an icon she would become over the years! Unreal!

We're obsessed!

Madonna's Grandmother Has Passed Away

Sad news.

Madonna's grandmother, Elsie Mae Fortin, passed away yesterday in Michigan, just three months away from her 100th birthday.

As pleased as we are to see that she lived such a long, full life, we imagine that it's still such a difficult loss.

Our thoughts are with all of her family and loved ones during this time.

Madonna & Brit-Brit Are Still Close

Yes! We're smiling ear-to-ear now that we know two our favorite divas are still in cahoots.

US Weekly reports that Britney Spears attended Madonna's post-Oscars party two weeks ago and that Madge was super happy to see her. According to reports, The Queen of Pop  introduced Brit-Brit to her ex-husand Sean Penn, who turned right around and admitted he was a big fan!

Random, but then again who isn't??? Ha!

If these two lovely ladies are still on good terms, maybe, perhaps, we can expect another duet for Madge and Brit-Brit in the future?

Puh-leeeeeeease?!
