So, in what marks a strange twist in this tragic story, ‘Ray Of Light‘ icon Madonna has ‘honored’ Malala with a strip tease carried out during Wednesday’s showing of her ‘MDNA Tour’ in LA. An act, which has now been billed as distasteful. In response to the strip tease, users of social networking site Twitter took to the medium to weigh in.
I respect that Madonna supports Malala but a striptease in support of a girl who supports education is so irrelevant. twitter.com/HibahAqsa/stat…— Hibah M.Rafiq (@HibahAqsa) October 13, 2012
Madonna wont be able to identify Pakistan on the map of the world, but she dedicate a song for #Malala? Shows the Power of US backed media— Saad Khan (@M_Saad_K) October 12, 2012
Classless as ever:Madonna(Gramma GaGa) dedicates onstage striptease to Pakistani girl shot by Taliban bit.ly/WgA01q #p2 #tcot— Andy (@Nuktubian) October 13, 2012
@mehrtarar Posting a prayer and taking your clothes off are two very different things. Esp when one plays into Taliban rhetoric.— Arabeya (@Ana3rabeya) October 13, 2012
Em, Pakistanis cross at MADONNA for her “inappropriate” nod to Malala Yousafzai, get a fucking life and try to focus on real problems?— Faiza S Khan (@BhopalHouse) October 13, 2012
Madonna honored Malala in the way she knew best. Lets appreciate that and not get caught up with trivialities. Thank you #Madonna— Aisha Sarwari (@AishaFSarwari) October 13, 2012
Madonna is one product of the American mentality of “Support it by stripping”. Anything is somehow related to your junk. #Absurd #Malala— Afaf Super-Nobody (@SalvagedEyes) October 13, 2012
So what do you think?
In the clip, she actually spoke a pretty heart-felt speech about the girl and about how lucky we are to live in a country where we’re free to express ourselves. The very same reason she was shot! You guys can criticize her all you want but at least she’s taking a stand… And guess who else she’s pissing off more than any of you guys by making this bold statement in the way that she did… The very same people that shot this girl for speaking out in what she believes in… The Taliban!
